I’m amazed at how few people realize the value of an effective email address.

I know the tech realm can be intimidating and seem daunting, but there really are a few simple things you can do to increase your web presence and utilize technology to make your business more professional.

I almost cringe when I receive business cards or have business owners who’s email address ends in @gmail.com, @yahoo.com or even worse… @aol.com.

I realize that these services allow a simple, free setup for an email address.  What you may not realize is that it is actually very simple and inexpensive to get email addresses at your own domain.  For example yourname@yourbusiness.com.

What is the value?

When your address ends with one of the free services, you’re conceding that your business will never grow beyond 1 person.  Mybusiness@gmail.com pigeon-holes you into having one line of contact for the business.  Your clients and potential customers then have to hope that an email sent will get to you.  When you’re the sole person in the company, that’s fine.  What happens when you hire more people for your business?

When you have an email address that ends in your business’ domain, you are adding a marketing piece to your business.

How?
When you give out your email address, you’re automatically giving people a link to your website.

What else does this help?

Now you can setup multiple addresses to better define recipients for your company.

Jim@yourbusiness.com

Joe@yourbusiness.com

And guess what, you can setup a group for info@yourbusiness.com that automatically forwards to both addresses listed above.

It’s really super simple to set this up and can really be done on virtually any budget.
